Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
i reckon a set of 15" ronal turbos would look pretty cool on this, certainly be different

Id love you to drive it mate. You need to go in it again since the clutch has been done and the back end is 100lbs lighter, its the quickest thing ive drove while ive working at volvo! just pulls like at powerful 2litre turbo and brakes down like there is no tomorow.
thanks

I Started It
All this is my doing i found this beast on ebay and i have had many hours of passenger driving in this beast during the "L Plate saga" and it has really impressed me from day one even the brakes that caused me great inujury to my knee and i can tell you all about the breakdowns ohh yes Blackpool springs to mind when the pistons had nearly worn away and the car somehow made it home lol
But it still is a brillant car i have to take my hat of to it
But it still is a brillant car i have to take my hat of to it
haha
Jimbo youve had me in stiches! i remember trying the brakes for the first time and hearing a loud squeel from the back (emma) and a painful moan from you next to me haha, i remember thinking woopes thats was a bad idea!
And yes it was a nippy little car to say it ran only a mear 85bhp-90bhp!! never thought id end up spending the hours and the money i have done to get it to the car it is today but as usual im never happy haha
As for the breakdowns,,,,they are what give it caracture hahahaha, i remeber going to black pool was fine but in between us getting there and setting of home it must have got mardy because it was like trying to drive a 200 year old turtle with parkinsons desease! the snake pass was particulaly good, flat out at 35mph holding trafic up, and taking several atemps to set of everytime it stopped,,,,,,running just a tad rich hehe.
I love it to bits and as ive said somewhere on thre forum before a special thanks to jimmy bango (james-_ST) finding the mighty mouse!

Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
Haha thanxs for that
I will also rember listening to the walkey talkey with jason (1250cinqturbo) shouting "Its Running Too Rich"

Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
im in stiches! its still got that problem!!! just toned down alot, it has days where it runs a bar richer on the gauge and looses a good 15-20bhp but those days are alot less common (normaly runs like that when i come to show someone how quick it is), its the wiring loom still,,,,,,,,which i still havnt changed

ITS HYBRID TURBO TIME!!!!
HYBRID TIME!!
good news, i today took off the t15 turbo from the cinq and Midland Turbos are picking it up first thing tomorow morning to carry out a Hybrid conversion and full rebuild!!
I spoke to a guy there who was very helpful and we had a chat about the best way to go with the Hybrid conversion, there a choice of different trim compressor wheels in the GT17 range and there may be a chance of hybriding my turbo with GT18 or maybe even a T2 compressor and housing!
They will get back to me tomorow when they have seen the turbo to further discuss the best way to go with it but the bad news is the turbine housing has a hair line fracture in it which means i will be folking out for a new turbine housing aswell!!!
here are some pics of PROJECT HYBRID TURBO -

Front mount intercooler
I am going to buy a nice big alloy front mount cooler to go with the new bigger turbo and engine setup but as ive said i need to mount it externaly dur to space issues! i have a TDCI Ford intercooler that ive temp mounted on the front bumper to see what a front mount would look like on a cinq (try and imagine it slightly bigger in shiny alloy)
let me now what you think? the boost pipe (in shiny chrome) would come out off the left hand side and turn 180 degrees and follow along the lenght of the cooler an into the grill (where it will go upto meet the throttle body, and the boost pipe from the turbo will pop out from the right hand side of the grill and straight into the cooler.

Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
Well it would look wicked ,but not sure about how easy it would get damaged................ it would be a good look thats for sure
Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
Thats my worry, stones have gone through my mesh and hit my GT cooler and damaged the fins, the fins are so weak on intercoolers etc, but at least the alloy intercooler in general is very strong.
I do love to see intercoolers mounted on the front lol, just cant really hide the fact its a turbo then lol

Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
Yeah kinda gives it away abit lol you never no some daft chavs may think you have just stuck it on
Are you going to put on twincooling fans for the bigger turbo to keep the engine temp down i had a friend who put a hybrid turbo on his punto and he had loads of turbo keeping it from overheating
james

Re: My 1250cc Fiat Cinquecento Turbo
its an issue ive been thinking about, im moving the rad forwards 2 " and the fact that the turbo running at the same 15psi will give out much much lower inlet temps helps to keepcharge temps down, the main source of heat will come from the power increase, so if its an issue the stat can come out again lol, it runs at 70 degrees without a stat in.
