Re: standalone for cinq turbo
i would not wish to use something that is little known with what looks like very little technical back-up. (although i may be wrong)
I have looked through the manual and the software looks awkward and doesnt have a proper 3D mapping facility (which makes life SO much easier)
Also how can it have only 3 ignition drivers yet claim to allow 4 cylinder COP?
From my experience with megasquirt, I would say avoid that altogether unless you know a tuner who is used to setting it up - otherwise it looks like it will be incredibly frustrating for the tuner and for you.
If you like doing things yourself, then MS is hard to beat, but if you want hassle free, then you want something along the lines of a DTA S40Pro or similar - for the difference a few hundred pounds makes, its money very well spent!
Compare the dicker ecu with S40pro - its like comparing some no-name budget springs to an Ohlins coilover setup, the differences are that huge.

Re: standalone for cinq turbo
when i was looking into standalone i was considering three after lots off research, top off the list being the Omex 600 series ECU which is semi sequential, MS and Emerald.
I didnt know enough about the Emerald so i looked into the Omex which is a really well proven bit off kit (Nobles have had amazing results with the Omex) but its really pricey at 600 quid alone for the unt.
That left me with MS which i think is the best value for money and there is a big following with dedicated forums etc....its the way ill be going some day (mostly thanks to munkul haha)
jason.

Re: standalone for cinq turbo
i too have been looking at the omex unit whit has the option for anti-lag and launch control (good for drag) but i have also been looking into MoTec too as it looks very similar to the omex but with anti-lag and launch already equipped
also i was eyeing up an AEM unit whith correct me if i'm wrong is what you (munkul) run and seem to be getting good results with
to behonest i am now looking at this car as a money no object kind of thing but the more expensive the parts are the longer it will take lol

Re: standalone for cinq turbo
Never had an AEM ecu, just an AEM wideband lambda setup.
I would put the spec lists of Motec, Omex, Emerald, and DTA together along with anything else you fancy, and compare. Look at the software etc and talk to tuners - at the end of the day, they are the ones using the system to its best advantage and in turn you benefit as well. And if you think you will live-map it yourself, then think again, cos you will NEVER get as good results as a steady state dyno. Maybe someone with good experience of a particular engine, but not the sort of thing we do with little fiat engines.
