MY 1250 ABARTH TURBO CINQUECENTO
Hello, in this section talk about your cars performance and type down your figures to show how fast your car is!!
[b]I have a 1250cc turbo intercooled abarth cinquecento here are my figures
0-60mph - 6 seconds with good traction
40-60 in third gear - 2.0-2.5 seconds
30-90 - 8.5 seconds
max speed - 130mph (i have had 124mph in low boost with lots off pull)
bhp - 170 @ 6500 rpm, makes peak power until 7000rpm (redline 7200)
lb/sf - 160 @ 4600rpm
weight in kgs - 695kgs
fun factor 10/10
I love this car to bits! out and out rapid and takes scoobys by absoulute suprise when the back end drops and its half a mile away in no time .............priceless! The crazy italian mouse

new record
Ive been playing with my electronic boost controller recentley by adjusting the boost sensativity i have incresed the low end torque in a very dramatic way, seems the controller was set to bring the turbo in as slow as the wastegate would allow to help stop bad torque spikes, by incresing the settings for sensativity the turbo comes into full boost quicker which has resulted in me beating an old time -
30mph to 60mph in 4 seconds dead, half a second quicker and trying to brake traction on dry roads in the process!
very happy although the tyres are getting ever closer to the legal limit

turbo cinq
Glad you liked it, like ive said before you need to go in it in the real world, the low gearing and high midrange torque from this set up make it rapid through the gears and up hills etc, this is where its gets the ability to stay with some high powered stuff upto 100, the last big trip out,,,,cant remember if you where there, i stayed level pegged with a modified astra GSI turbo from up near damons right to 120 from about 70 before he started to push me out of the way on the motorway,,,,between 0 and 80 though around my end he couldnt pull away and i was catching in every gear! not bad to say the set up i run is killing of loads of the true potensial of the car.

new figures recorded.
hello guys here are a few new facts on the 156bhp/145lb/sf setup i now run and a little talk on how i has changed the performance times-
(timed using greddy full auto timer)
30-55mph in second gear - 2 seconds
40-60mph in third gear - 2.5seconds
60-80mph in fourth gear - 4 seconds
60-90mph in fourth gear - 6 seconds
40-80 thrid/fourth through gears - 6 seconds
70-110mph in fifth - roughly 8 seconds
max speed ive been to on the new setup - 124mph with loads off pull left for someone braver! (and boy did it get there fast!)
The car is now much slower 30-60 in third due to lag and where the engine now makes it power...waiting for the turbo to kick in between 30 and 40mph in third is bad so the time is really influenced where as if you start the test at 40 the revs are perfect for a huge kick in the back with what feels like no lag at all.
And its the same storey with the 50-70mph in fifth gear test because on the old low end torque setup the car was really in its stride by 60mph from 50 where as now its just starting to build pull around 67mph....as soon as you hit 70-73ish the car is into full power and the needle just starts flying round!
However in a good way second gear blasts from 25-30mph upto 55mph regardless off masses off wheel spin are much quicker than before and the max speed in second egar is acheived rapidly.
The call for an LSD however is ever loader after discovering on our last trip out that if i tried to get round the roundabouts fast the turbo would surge in and cause the car to loose all grip.....so to hold back you have to go round on light throttle.....straighten up....then wait for the turbo and then bang of it goes like a missile......meanwhile jimbo in the fiesta ST has turned in planted it and pulled out off the roundabout with out any fuss and is somewhere in the distance! haha.
I would say the best its ever been for a good pakage round corners etc was when i ran 116bhp/113lb/sf because the power would pull you out off roundabouts so so quick and there really was very little that would out corner and out accelerate it out off the bends.....this was my mehtod off shocking the big toys because id hit the roundabout and be out and gone before they new what had happened, then they would catch me after a mile or so. Now things are a little more......scary haha.
BUT, with the addition of my new antirol bar kit and 1.5 degrees negative cmaber bolts the overall handling should be massivly more controllable and it will really help to get the torque onto road.
thanks

recent quarter mile times!
Hello guys, thought id get some times up from a recent blast with....a greddy full auto timer (fitted in the car) and my HTC performance timer before it came off the road
ill not mention the name off the road but near to me there is along straight smooth and flat road 1/2 a mile long (anyone who knows where i live will no what i mean) and ive used to it to time the car before for 30-60 runs etc. But before the car came off road in a bad way i used my new Greddy Full Auto timer to time quarter mile times and sprint times etc aswell as a proven performance tester on the HTC whic has been shown to be within 0.4 seconds accurate.
Anyway i today went back through the log on the timer on the greddy (hard to do as its the jap version which they don't sell in England) thanks for the instructions! but i timed the car over 5 runs with mixed but consistent results!
1st run - 14.78 seconds @ 85mph (bad 1st gear set off which took some getting use to)
2nd run - 13.68 seconds @ 102mph (best time and perfect run start to finish)
3rd run - 13.92 seconds @ 98mph
4th run - 14.4 seconds dead @ 88mph
5th run - 15.56 seconds @ 83mph (lets just say the gear box wasnt playing ball while trying to get into fourth on this one!)
the results came back roughly the same on the HTC give or take 0.3 (recording a best off 13.75 @ 100mph) but im mega chuffed with the results, i was quickly put to shame however by finding out a 999cc turbo mini on the mini turbo forum ran a 13.53 @ 104mph!! with slightly less power .
I noticed when doing the runs that slipping the clutch quite badly and only using around three quarts throttle in first gear shaved a second off the times, giving it the full beans and dumping the clutch resulted in masses off wheel spin and times in the mid - too late 15's.
Ill be preparing it for Santa pod later on this year as id like to get some print off's on there clocks. Albeit mid to high 13's is what id aimed for with this car at this level off tune and believe me it was hard to get it down below the 14 second barrier because off the gearing/grip and judging when to change gear!, id been aiming to beat a time a friend off mine ran with a 135bhp Nissan Mirca turbo....he ran a 14.8 @ 80 something and i new mine accelerated alot faster so i expected low 14's absolute min!
Ow and iff the red Ibiza cupra ever signs up that followed me down the straight trying to race!! you followed me when i recorded a 15.56 and it still left you for dead
(all runs where done at 14psi 165bhp with water methanol turned on and resulted in a broken rear gearbox mount.......again! )
thanks

thanks mate
and yes it does get some abuse when the mood takes me haha, just takes it toll on the poor little bugger. Im looking into some way to stop the kick on the engine having such a fatal affect on the rear mount, ive looked a engine dampers on ebay but i really dont no if they will help enough or not.......unless i can get a stronger bush in the mount
thanks

This car just gets better and so amazingly fast you'll have to take me in it at some point is it running and back on the road now.

maybe if you had some sort of custom secondary mount.. i dont know how hard it would be to do something like that, and you would feel a fair bit more vibration in the car if you had stiffer mounts, i know of things like shorter dogbone mounts on motors like dannys and our lasses 9n polos (also fabia and ibizas of same model range) that reduce engine rock so i wonder if something like that can be done, i dunno im just talking shiiiiite tbh heh

no mate your not talking crap thats the idea i have.....its how to put it into practice. The engine dampers are ideal though because they absorb the hammering effect leaving the mount to deal with the torque alone which it should be able to do fine.....its that kick from gear changes and snap acceleration thats killing stuff
cheers

Re: MY 1250 ABARTH TURBO CINQUECENTO
I'm jealous, if i try anything mildly silly at the minute i just smoke my clutch
I can't remember did you tigerseal the engine mounts? if not might be worth doing.
I was looking at engine dampers before I sold the Cinq i think it is the way to go and should help with the full chat gear changes, don't some Volvo's come with them? it might be a cheap source of parts than ebay
of course an LSD would help a lot here

been there with the clutch......great inst it when you want to go and the revs just climb like a soft auto!! never tiger sealed the mounts no....the Volvo's have a top stabilizer mount and bush which is also a weak point on them, we change alot off top mounts due to bad splitting but the T5 's signed to the police from new come with poly bushes up top!
thanks

The guys that have done the Tiger sealed mount mod swear they are worth doing and it really reduces engine movement, id try that first if I were you it's a very cheap fix

Re: MY 1250 ABARTH TURBO CINQUECENTO
tigersealed mounts FTW, feels mint, everything feels more connected, only downside is more vibration.
....only lasts a few months then it starts cracking and you're back to square one though ive tried a funky way to keep tiggerseal in my lower dogbone mount - with two sliding metal plates trying to hold it in - not sure how well its working though.

No Problem... We aim to please .......... wish I'd found them before when i could have done with them
Few more finds like this and I'll have worked up enough credit for you to spend a Sunday on your back under my car getting high on wax-oil fumes helping me swap in my fooking mega expensive clutch that is now on back order from the US

Dug out some old Noble's rolling road printouts!
hello guys, the cinq didnt make it to Nobles's but it knows those rollers all to well haha, i dug some off the old printouts ive had before over the past set ups etc see below
This one was back when the car ran a 9.5:1 C/R, Greddy boost controller, decat exhaust, Punto GT cooler, 75 cam, 40mm TB, ported GSR head setup at 10psi (0.6bar) boost. low lag torquey setup! drove great like this.
This setup was running "a bad setup" but it gave good torque spikes low down and made the car pull very well on the road despite being flawed in many ways.
changes where 7.0:1 C/R and boost turned up!
And last but not least the last time i visited the rollers with my new engine and turbo setup!
issue here is a restrictive TB plenum and small intercooler but the car did well and has since been treated to water methanol injection and there is a large intercooler waiting to go on! mods here where -
MPI on boost fueling, volvo T5 injectors, ported 75 head, GT1752 hybrid turbo, revised intercooler piping, new exhaust system, 8.5:1 c/r.
next graph should be before or just after xmas set up on my new MF2 with 2" TB plenum, large high flow cooler and the water injection so it should see some good power at even less boost >)
