Does anybody know what sort of job fitting a de-cat to a Mondeo ST tdci will be? Am I right in thinking it's bolted to the manifold or something. Not simple like my old ST200 in the middle of the system.

hello mate Wink

the decat will bolt in place of the old cat very easily, the cat is bolted directly to the turbo down pipe round the back of the engine so you can even do it on your drive Smile

Invest in a WINGSPEED decat also they are well designed and the they make the turbo more lively Wink

thanks

I take it the undertray has to come off first just so you can see it. I can only see as far the braided flexi pipe. So it's right up there is it?

How much time should I put aside to do this as I want to try and fit it this weekend. A lot of the time is already spoken for visiting veeeeeeery old parents and digging over the allotment etc. Some guidance on how to do it would be most welcome.

Thanks.

well, jack the car up as high as you can and put it one some good axle stands, then if yours has an under-tray remove it.
You should only really need a 3/4 ratchet and a few long extension, maybe universal joint aswell.

the cat is bolted directly to the turbo downpipe with four 13mm nuts and at the other end its connected by 2 x nut and bolt with a gasket at both ends.

give everything a good squirt with WD40 and it shouldn't take you longer than 30mins mate Wink

So you already have a de-cat??, what make did you go for??

cheers

Hi Jason. Thanks for the info. yes I have got an undertray and a pair of old axle stands. I don't know what kind of de-cat I've got, it was with the car when I bought it. The dealer removed it before I took delivery and then the mechanic who took it off was going to keep it!!! Bl...y cheek.

Well. It's now fitted. What a pain in the a.se! I hope it's worth it, time will tell. I'll go on a drive tomorrow to see if it feels any different. Any ideas if there should be any difference?
