Re: MEET THIS WEEKEND??????
great day out pity about 50 zones up that way makes the trip seem twice as long.
I still need a better car tho the polo lack of power up hills a very squirmy steering makes a constant fight to hold any sort of speed on those kind of roads
or maybe its just me that was to used to how the ST use to handle on there lol
ahh well will see what happens soon

Hi chaps,
Nice to see I got a mention and I wasn't even a member of this club :-)
Do you often have meets up around Yorkshire? My mum and dad live in York so I'm often over there in my track car.

Re: MEET THIS WEEKEND??????
Cheers lads.
The pug is a bit of a special beasty (and has no ECU... it's totally mechanical!).
It runs a Xantia 1.9 DT engine, with ported head, big valves, ported Peugeot 406 intake, polished Xantia exhaust manifold with a totally custom built Turbo Dynamics GT25 hybrid turbo running off a HKS electronic valve controller. It's also running a modified 9mm fuel pump, with custom leverset and lazer cut boost compensator. All that sits on a set of solid engine mounts. Exhaust wise, it's got a 2.25" straight through mandrel bent system with oval tip. Runs big brakes, coilovers, full powerflex bushes, and hybrid rear beam.
It's totally stripped out, with only 2 x OMP FIA approved buckets and harnesses - tipping the scales at a little over 950kg.
It runs around 180 - 200hp depending on boost level (which when you saw us, we were at the lowest "cruise" setting of 24psi..)
It would have been a fair bit quicker if I'd hit high boost (30psi) and changed out of top gear! :-P
All work has been done by me, with a bit of input from mates where necessarry.... It's a great little project, as nothing is available off the shelf, and there's not many like it....

It goes well when cranked up to 30psi.... but they are anything but reliable when running big boost - they throw rods for fun!

Something the 850 T5 lump can do when running 20 psi or over and /or running over 340bhp!!!, although they normally bend them first "the weak link"
Although im in the same boat with the Fiat, it runs 170bhp on stock fiat 1242cc rods!!!
ever thrown a rod??
thanks
Jason

Re: MEET THIS WEEKEND??????
I had an 850 T5R about 5 years ago... muchos fun - just too heavy and barge like for me. I prefer lightweight :-)
Loads of people have thrown rods on these engines at around 130hp so it's a mystery why mine is holding up so well.... to be honest I'm investigating decomp plates at the moment to bring the compression down a little... the conrod force is insane on the stock 22.8:1 compression!

good man!! im really loving the T5!, its running 245bhp at the min but later this month itll have a BSR 290bhp chip on and water meth injection so it should be good for 300bhp
But i know what you mean which is why i have the cinq aswell 170bhp in a 693kgs shoe box is juts mental
i run a decomp on the cinq btw, speak to Mike at ferriday he will sort you out nice guy! about 120 quid delivered for a copper or cheaper for ally
thanks
Jason
Re: MEET THIS WEEKEND??????
That's who I've been speaking to already oddly!! :-O
I bet that thing is an Animal with 170hp and no weight.
Mine's pretty mad with 200hp, 950kg's but the best bit is the 300lb/ft of torque!
