Highly Modified Proton GTI
http://stringerphotography.co.uk/proton/
Don't know where to start really. We have done SO much to it:
Engine:
Standard 1.8 16V 4G93 (138 bhp standard)
Eaton M45 Supercharger (Not been on a RR but think it is pushing just under 200 bhp at 5 PSI)
Relocated Throttle Body
Pipercross Airfilter
4-2-1 Stainless Manifold
High Flow Cat
Custom exhaust
Polished Rocker Cover
Magnecore Leads
Denso Iridium plugs
Adjustable Fuel Regulator
SuperChipped
Interior:
Front seats leathered
Boost Gauge
Coltman Short Shifter
Carbon Fibre Steering Wheel
Back seats removed
Custom Built Boot Build (by us)
DVD Double Din head unit
4 JVC 10" Subs
3 Power Caps
4 Amps
Rear Upper Strut Brace with 7" Screen
2 JVC 6 x 9's
Exterior:
Standard Body Kit from the Factory
Lambo door conversion
ACE 17" alloys
Zero Sixty Grooved and Dimpled Discs all round
Black Diamond Pads
Single wiper
Rear wiper removed (Flushed)
Clear Side Repeaters
Updated
Thanks
Lou and Rich

Re: Highly Modified Proton GTI
It's a really neat example never seen one modified before i can imagine it goes well with them not weighing much and a nice supercharger under the bonnet

Re: Highly Modified Proton GTI
Just a quick update.
We are just in the process of sorting out an intercooler for it.
Will put some pictures up when we have finished.
SHOULD add about 20+ more bhp!!!

Quick update
Got all the bits needed for the change. Haven't had time to fit it all yet.
Been busy on the house.
Will let you all know when it is finished.

20bhp from an intercooler? Seems a bit optimistic?
Re: Highly Modified Proton GTI
By changing the pipe work and adding the Intercooler it will help it breath better.
Especially as the original pipework was REALLY restricting it. 50mm pipe work which had been crushed to 38mm to get it out of the supercharger. So it wont be 20 bhp just from the Intercooler it will be the Intercooler plus the less restricted pipework.

Update. Warning Picture Heavy!!!
Update:
After a lot of sweat and head scratching we have finally finished the inter cooler, pipework and changes in the engine bay.
We had to re-think the engine bay so that we could accommodate an inter cooler, that involved removing the air con and also reducing the size of the radiator. (And at the same time losing weight )
And while we were under there we also removed the carbon canister and 2 restrictive emission solenoids, EGR valve and tensioner pulley which weight a ton!!!
Our first attempt didn't quiet work.
It looked discreet but the 51mm inlet and outlet on the Pace Ford RS Turbo inter cooler just wasn't up to the job.
So back to square one.
But in the process of looking for a new inter cooler we found that the waste gate pipe was leaking.
So had an american chopper moment!
BLING BLING
It was a nightmare finding an inter cooler with 63mm ports and the correct size to fit in the space that was available.
We looked into a custom made one but the cost was horrendous and if it didn't fit we would have been stuck with an inter cooler that we couldn't use.
We looked at LOADS. Twin pass inter coolers have got bad reviews so decided not to go for one again.
So we removed the bonnet catch support (You can see it in the first picture) and that gave use lots more room to play with.
After playing around for a week or two we finally came up with this:
Hope you like
It was a nightmare getting all the pipes to flow to and from the inter cooler, but we got there in the end.
Comments welcome

That's a cute little intercooler..
How come the car is called a Proton when (I think) it looks like a Mitsubishi Colt?

Re: Highly Modified Proton GTI
Proton bought the shell off Mitsubishi
They then changed it slightly and put there badge on it.
They use the Mitsubishi 4G93P engine with is a 4G93T engine de-turboed and it is used in loads of different Mitsubishi's.
