Modified 1975 MGB GT V8
Hi
I've got an engine block from a range rover 4.6 + all the old bits from the factory built 130hp V8 bolted on. I've added a supercharger and a wizards of nos nitrous system.
She makes 402hp with 590 ft/lbs of torque on the dyno at 2700 rpm.
Traction is an issue though ??
Regards
Perry

And is that a tax disc holder i can see??...road legal??
If so..... remind me NOT to try it on with an MGB with a supercharger the size of my engine sticking out the bonnet!
Awsome stuff, you do the work yourself mate???

Hi Jason
Yes all the work is home brew stuff.
I have had a few parts made at various machine shops to my specs though.
One of the difficult parts (or so I thought) was going to be fitting the Camaro tranny. Its a TH350 3 speed auto and the adaptors to make this lot fit the Rover V8 were fairly simple to make.
The whole GMC 4/71 supercharger kit bolts straight on top with a modified Rover V8 manifold.
It was road legal, but when I decided to go hardcore I sorned it. However, if I fit treaded rear tyres, fit some side pipes, re connect the handbrake cable and re fit the front indicators it would pass an MOT tomorrow.
I have made a promise to a few mates that if the car makes a 9 second pass I'll save up and get it road legal for 6 months so I can take it out one summer for fun on the road. But I will have to drop a 10 gallon tank back under the boot as it only has a 2 gallon fuel cell fitted. That would get me about 10 miles before I ran out

Perry

does it get lift off on a drag strip ??
That is a bit of a problem James. I have managed to calm it down bit. But there is only so much I can do with a 37 year old suspension design. I have a couple more tricks up my sleeve for this year to increase the rate of weight transfer from front to rear off the line. While it looks great, the wheels in the air are costing me valuable 10th's of a second on the 1/4 mile.
If my plans come together for 2012 I hope to see just a little air under the front tyres with the back end not squatting down so far as opposed to the best I could do for 2011 in this slo mo video.
regards
Perry

This is what it used to do back in the day before we fitted the traction bars. And this was on narrow road legal tyres before we fitted the fat slicks ?

Re: Modified 1975 MGB GT V8
Update!!
After 12 months off track due to various reasons the MGB went back out and ran back down to 10.4 last Sunday at Santapod for her first shakedown test day.
This is great news as we ran the car on more gentle power settings than we did last July
Next weekend we are back out to see if we can go sub 10.4 on the strip!
Only got one vid from a mate so far which was quite a gentle launch with low boost. You can see the car runsa nice and straight. Quite sedate compared to last year !!
