Jamsport Focus RS 400hp kit!!!!
I was reading up on Jamsport's 360hp and 400hp kits for the new RS over my holiday and found it quite interesting so here is a little write up on how Jamsport make fords destroyer a nuke!
There are a few big names out there at the moment who have started building up kits for the RS to make it sing but Jamsports 400hp kit seems to be the one to have for a mix off value for money and power
The kit consists of the following -
Pipercross replacement cone filter.
Mongoose exhaust system with decat or optional sports cat.
Air-Tec intercooler.
Bigger injectors and remap.
The test on the kit was taken on by the magazine "FastFord" who took a very new barley run in Focus RS and straight away pop it on the dyno at Jamsport, the outcome was as Ford intended running at 309bhp/340lb/sf of torque...........awsome!
They then bolted on the Pipercross cone air filter, they where not expecting any gains as modern ECU's have such a say in the final power output and restrict tuning without mapping but the filter released 6bhp and dropped a pound foot off torque. But the power curve was made more progressive and the top end was far happier.
Next came the Mongoose decat exhaust (with choice of tailpipes) which released another 10bhp and boosted torque as well............again freeing up the top end power.
The next to come was the rather large Airtec intercooler which again wasn't expected to see gains as its main purpose in the kit is reliability and to stop the ECU robbing back power as over heated air would run the ecu into limp. But the intercooler released another 7bhp!
at this stage the Focus was running at 332bhp and an impressive amount for a stock ECU map at this stage.
The team at Jamsport then fitted there large capacity injectors and removed the ECU for mapping.
The end result was 396bhp and a huge 441lb/sf of torque, over 300lb/sf was being made as low as 2100rpm!!!!!!!
The owners comments where - its just goes instantly and there is so much torque its fantastic.
the kit (fitted) is around 2500k and seems to me to be a hell off a kit!
thanks
jason
