McLaren F1 (1993-1997)
Until recently the McLaren F1 was the fastest car on the planet. Its BMW 6.1-litre V12 engine produced a staggering 627 bhp and could go up to 240 mph. And never mind the 0-60 time the F1 could hit 100 mph in just 6.3 seconds. The key to the McLaren's success was the fact it was created entirely from carbon fibre and built on a philosophy that demanded it be put together with absolute precision. The resulting car can seat three people-the driver in the middle with two passenger's to the side and back of them. The McLaren's production came to an end when customers decided that the price tag of £635,000/US$1,000,000 was perhaps stretching even them a little too much. The McLaren would also carve out a name for itself on the track by winning Le Mans 24-hour race in 1995. The F1 then remains the supercar that all others are judged by.
