Re: Nissan Primera SRi
well i think there will be a massive change coming, i think the engine is about dead as its started smoking from cold start, and its blue smoke, the question is do i pull the engine out and strip it and replace ann the seals and bearings or do i just say f**k it and slot an sr20det in??? please give advise guys.

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
if you are set on keeping the car, then by all means whack an sr20det in.
If its easy enough, try and get a VVT engine cos they are smoother, flow better, come with a better turbo and have less bits on that need upgrading - ie the redtop oilpump pickup is gash.

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
I have been chatting with the lads on npoc and the pulsar motor goes in bit the gearbox needs an adapter. The Sr20 fitted to these stock can be turbo'd but is about as easy and expensive as fitting the pulsar. In America they have had loads of success turboing the ga16 and its proving to be rather strong on standard internals and can be run low boost on stock comp as they seem to think its around 9/10:1.
I am going to do a lot of looking into it before I deside but I'm swinging towards a ga turbo

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
well my research has turned up a lad that ran my engine in am almera and had it running 230bhp and was reliable, wow 230bhp from a 1.6 on standard iternals! they are only 107bhp stock lol

A guy I used to know (I've not spoken to him in many years) here in my city owns a dark grey Primera (the model that came after yours Mario) that he apparently rebuilt from scratch and he's got a 2.0 turbo engine in it with lots of power and I remember it because its a total sleeper

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
That will have the Sr20de+t basically a stock Sr20de with Sr20det internals. They are a good set up but don't have the oil squirters in so can't handle insane power lol be told not to go down that road lol.

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
Hi mate get the ga16 slapped in the micra and sr20 the primera, but go for the pri engine as its 147bhp due the the high port head unlike the almera. mine was pushing 160bhp with jus S/S exhaust and drop in filter i have now put a 4 branch on and its transormed the car best £40 ive spent

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
cheers but defo leaving the ga16 in the loon as have bought a seicento instead of a micra lol. i did toy with the idea of an sr20det but its alot of work plus the ga16 is a solid motor that loves boost so i am going to aim for around 180bhp to keep it sensible but i will prob get to that point and still want more lol

Re: Nissan Primera SRi
well this is off the road now due to the tracking being so far out its destroyed its second set of front tyres in 4 weeks, so plan is to strip the block down and re-new everything and fit a de-comp plate and do the turbo on this first and get it running sweet hopefully with around 180-200bhp, i am thinking megasquirt as its cheap and fairly reliable to do, get it done and sorted in one go as i intend on taking the next year to sort this out and in the mean time i will run the sei with a stock 1108 until i get bored lol
