Nitrous on my Mondeo ST-tdci ???????
Hello Wizards! My name is David and i was directed to this part of the site by my son (Jason)
This is because ive been contemplating fitting a 20-25bhp nitrous kit to my diesel car for a number of reasons!
The car in question is a 2005 Ford Mondeo ST-tdci 2.2 with a Duratorq diesel engine, have you ever fitted Nitrous to one of these before firstly ???
The reason im considering Nitrous is because i have reached a state of tune with my engine that will require major modifications such as a hybrid turbo and larger injectors to achieve much more!, the engine is mapped and tuned upto 188.5bhp with 321lb/sf of torque but in terms of mapping the engine cant be made to give much more.
The injectors are flat out at around 210-220bhp tops!, so here is the question -
is it safe to fit a 20-25bhp shot to the engine with the injectors being so close to there limit and how hard would it be to get extra fuel in for the nitrous????
any help would be very much appreciated
David

Re: Nitrous on my Mondeo ST-tdci ???????
Hi David,
Sorry to keep you waiting so long for a reply, but I've only just become aware of this new thread.
Our Street-Blaster 150D systems have been sold for use on MANY diesel engines and although it's likely that at least one of those customers owned the same make/model of car as yours, I'm unaware of a specific example.
As you've already realised, in order to produce extra power by fitting nitrous injection, additional fuel must also be present.
If a diesel isn't overfuelled and wasting unburnt fuel (which I'll assume yours isn't), we normally suggest increasing the fuel flow in one of two ways;
1) By fitting our hydro injection system - the Flow Master system, which can be used to inject extra fuel - methanol and water.
2) By fitting a tuning device which increases the fuel delivery. The ideal unit would be fully mappable, with the ability to store and switch between 2 or more maps, so a high performance map can be used without nitrous and an even higher one with nitrous.
As you've already had the engine remapped, you're not likely to want to consider the 2nd suggestion, so your only option is to increase fuel flow with the Flow Master system.
Should you be interested and require further information, I'll be happy to oblige.
If I made the wrong assumption and you do see some smoke being emitted from the exhaust (which I doubt), please let me know because I can offer you a different alternative.
Regards,
Lisa
