Hi,

Just the 2 cars since I past my test in Jan '08.

1) Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v (100bhp). Owned this for 13 months (~10,000 miles) and enjoyed going to the garage every 2-3 months with various vaults. Final straw was when it failed the MOT on emissions (badly), the cause of this was worn piston rings, garage recommended fitting a new cat and hope that gets it thru the MOt, it did just.

2) Skoda Fabia 1.9TDi PD100. Had this for 20 months (27,000 miles) only had a 2 faults with this (wheel bearing, dodgy air con/heater)

You are a fan of the Fabia i see i work on a a fair few were i work and they seem to be relatively good cars, front wishbone bushes seem to be common and a few electrical faults but never seen one ware the rings, may have missed some oil changes from past owner or something

The piston rings, I believe, are an issue on the AUB engine
