the other thing i reckon though is that if you fitted this in the summer the difference would have been a lot more noticable whereas its gotten quite cold lately so even with the larger intercooler it might not seem as much of a difference as the air blasting on it is already pretty cold

Totaly agree with that mate and dad has the same thoughts, plus the car weights 1600kgs so 30lb/sf of torque may make the small difference he feels but he made a comment yesterday that indicated it was going well and it was "it doesnt half get to 125 quickly!!) lol.
Ive also exsplained to him the biggest pro with this cooler is the fact that it will not suffer heat soak and loss off power over constant boost levels making it a more consistant power output on the road.

Re: Mondeo ST-tdci 2.2
Well seems the ST-tdci's are struggling to get crack the 200bhp marker on stock turbo's and coolers......the vauxhall boys took on the ford boys using ST-tdci's against SRI CDTI vectra's on the rolling road recently, both started off life with 150bhp ish, the most powerful CDTI off the day was 207bhp but the ST-tdci's couldnt brake 195bhp and this is thought to be down to the simple fact that the 2.2 ST engine was designed (stoke and turbo wise) for out and out torque where as the smaller 1.9 CDTI can make more power!
For me though the interesting thing is the 2.2 pisses all over the CDTI in the torque department with as much as 50lb/sf more than the most torquest CDTI hehe. So i think dad will be hoping for a healthy torque figure more than power due to the mapping also (car needs a custom map to make the most off the cooler/decat/airfilter) in which case it would easy make around 210-215bhp.....shame. But i surpose the good thing here is that dad can have i rolling roaded and then some time later have the exhaust done and a new custom map so the visit after will be interesting!
thanks
jason

I can see the exhaust making a big difference if it's anything like James's Fiesta ST it had loads of silences and restrictions to restrict performance.

Re: Mondeo ST-tdci 2.2
Found this on the Celtic tuning website and found it quite interesting! you see people are struggling to get over 190bhp even with coolers and decats etc but then dads has the Celtic Map on it which none off the guys on the ST drivers forum have so it will interesting to see if the figures they quote are as accurate as they say they are! -
here is some text copied from there website! - - A long term development of the ST engine has ended up with 197bhp and 325lbft torque. The 2.2 PSA engine is a strong performer with overboost facility and a 59lbft torque increase. The software will provide a minimum 197bhp where on some dynos it has been recorded at 205bhp and 343lbft. The power is solid all through the rev range with huge torque increases throughout and feedback is suggesting a 3-4mpg improvement.
We develop all of our software on the rolling road to ensure accuracy in terms of both power delivery and also to ensure fuelling, boost pressures and exhaust gas temperatures are all within tolerance. Our aim is for maximum power whilst maintaining optimum reliability.
Seems they have changed the maps because they used to qoute 195bhp and 335 or 345lb/sf of torque hhhmmm
thanks

Re: Mondeo ST-tdci 2.2
Okay, dads made 188.5bhp @ 3573 rpm and 321lb/sf of torque @ 2513 rpm! sadly its running rich right through so its down on power and torque. So because off the new cooler and decat it needs a stage two map and an exhaust system then we should see another 40plus lb/sf and another 15 or so BHP
Still quicker than the figures suggest though!
Wait till you see the graph though its a good fast road map! torque is massive everywhere and it still makes 200lb/sf at the rev limit

Re: Mondeo ST-tdci 2.2
Getting dad to come on here is a bloody nightmare so here is a little update, he is still set on having the car lowered at some stage by about 40mm but we were on the net today and came across this ST Mondeo which shows a possible future look to aim for! it sits on 19" RS wheels, lowered.
I must say the second i saw this car i fell in love with it!! i think it looks foookin fooookin awsome!! I WANT BADLY
BTW the car in the pic is a 320bhp ST220

Good job looks like new even though i hate all the engine covers on cars when you have to remove them before you can work on them they serve a purpose when there cleaned up they look nice and shiny

Sooo............ When is it getting a new Map to run the cooler
Re: Mondeo ST-tdci 2.2
well ive been been on at dad about the map ever since Nobles but he hasnt really changed his mind much he has talked alot about running water methanol as its about the same price as another map!!
One thing is for sure is he will most likley go for the exhaust at some stage......i pulled up next to ST-tdci modded to hell a few weeks ago and it sounded bloody gorgeous with a nice subtle exhaust on
and i agree about the performance blue, after id polished it up i turned to look at the T5's blue (which had also been polished) and it didnt look half as "in your face" haha
thanks
