JBS's Garrett GT Collector Manifold Kit consists of the following components:
JBS Cast Or Tubular Exhaust Manifold
Garrett GT Turbocharger
JBS Downpipe
JBS De-CAT/High Flow Catalytic Converter
JBS Custom boost hoses
All Associate Plumbing and Hardware
The most important part of the Garrett GT Collector Manifold Kit is the exhaust manifold. JBS has spent enormous time and resources developing the turbo manifold. The exhaust manifold has been designed in the best CAD packages available, for 3-D modelling and CFD analysis. By performing a computational fluid dynamics analysis, they were able to study exhaust flow, pressure drops, and fluid flow through the exhaust manifold. Multiple computer simulations were done to prove the design before they even had a physical manifold in our hand.
This stage 1 collector manifold has been design to be produced in both cast and tubular format.
The Garrett GT tubular manifold design, like all JBS designed manifolds is:
Fabricated from 321 and 409 Grade stainless steel
Inside diameter 34mm for better overall power band
Precision TIG welded for maximum strength and liveability
Cutting and separating the head flange insure unbreakable construction
The laser cut head flange are machined ensures sealed surface
CNC cut collector to ensure accuracy
The collector is welded inside and out which further prevents cracks.
Once the manifolds have fully passed the computer simulations they had the cast exhaust manifold CAD model transferred to a SLS rapid prototyping machine. A nylon resin exhaust manifold was cast from the prototyping machine. With this plastic manifold they were able to mock everything up in the test vehicle before proceeding to the next process.
JBS has chosen to cast its manifolds in a very high quality foundry which is used by many OEM turbo suppliers and OEM vehicle manufacturers to ensure the castings are of the highest quality.
Also to reflect the high quality casting; JBS has spent a great deal of time researching the latest high temperature resistant cast steels. These cast steels have a high nickel content, having the following properties makes them ideal for our performance manifolds:
resistance to corrosion,
resistance to oxidisation and high temperatures (up to 1050 oC),
resistance to wear and erosion.
This is to ensure a minimal amount of thermal expansion and an equal rate of thermal expansion to the turbo housing, this again minimises the potential for thermal fatigue (cracking).
The same designs process is carried over into all our turbo kit components. The turbo out, TIP and boost pipes have all been design, flow tested and prototype using CAD, to give the best possible performance. Our Boost pipes are available in silicone or stainless steel.
For the JBS Garrett GT Collector Manifold Kits stages 1-2 custom built Garrett GT turbos are used,. The turbos are selected for best power output and compatibility with the other components of the turbo kit.
