more bad news on the cinq!!

a few off you who where on the cruise this weekend will remember when we got back to my house the car wouldn't lock on the fob?? well it seems there was a big problem right at that moment because i came to drive the car today (to try it after a repair on the MF2) and the Alarm system seems to have fully immobilized the car !! even the ignition lights wount come on let alone hear the fuel pump prime Neutral

Checked the batt and it was fully charged....no fuses gone, then i noticed the LED light on for the "alarm armed" warning and this continues to stay on with no response from the fully functional key fob!, tried disconnecting the battery for an hour and trying again but its froze up. Its determined not to work this car Sad

Seems im going to have to see iff i can remove the alarm system or bypass it to get it running again let alone lock it (seen as i have no door locks and rely on the remote central locking) but im ticked off about it so when i will actually get around to doing it i have no idea......might see if dad fancys a car swap week Very Happy

thanks

oh dude your joking, i'll tell you what i am holding back really really hard on trying to talk you into putting all the turbo gear on the punto and starting again with it but then the cinq lover in me kicks me in the balls and gags me

the stupid thing is all your probs with that car are down to dodgy electrics

gutted mate, have you checked the alarm control box as these normally have their own fuses. Also is there a way you can resync the fobs. I had a smilar issue with the nissan in end I just got a spare control unit with 2 fobs second hand of the sxoc for £30:) . If all else fails it may be the best root for you to take.

thanks guys, im not to fused about it really....after all the major issues ive come across building this car this is somewhat easier to sort (i hope)

my idea is to cut out the alarm and fit katies old cinq locks etc so i have a car that can be open and shut by the key once again lol, and then ill rig something up that will ensure the car cant be stolen without me being involved which isnt to much off a pain. I might even fit a hidden switch that cuts power to the fuel pump relay or something like that....the car still has a built in immobilizer as standard so im going to be ok.

chris - i wouldnt dream off putting my engine in the punto lol....the cinq weights some 150kgs less and it still manages to punish the drive train so with the extra weight to pull around it may be to much and alot slower too.

simon - good idea i will be checking for a fuse somewhere, although i doubt it
s that because for a brief moment the alarm reacted to my fob (it beeped) but failed to allow the car to start again. Its an old alarm now and i think id like to pull it out because as james said its caused me problems before and with the current setup im relying on it to even get in the car lol.

ricky - the boot is delocked and the doors to....only fob opens the doors (stupid really) and as much as i like VW's im totaly and utterly attached to this car Very Happy i love it to much and ive gone so far with it now that it would take alot off money to make alot off cars this fast and this much fun hehe...

thanks
