Punto GT turbo
A little write up on one of fiats best hot hatches!
The Fiat punto GT turbo was a big hit back when it was first released, the lightweight chassis combined with a 1.4 turbocharged and intercooled engine meant performance was great giving 0 -60 in 7.4 seconds, top speed was claimed to be 127mph!
handling was good with a full indipendent suspension setup and due to being a relitivly lighweight car it takes only a few modifications to make this car fly! a simple chip, exhaust and airfilter along with an uprated actuator would give 170bhp,,,,,plenty enough to cause most fast 2 litre turbos a problem. And with an intercooler upagrade 180bhp plus is easyly possible.
One of the great hot hatches of past years, still capable of running rings around alot of todays fast hot hatches!
What are your views???

PUNTO GT
The punto GT is a fast hot hatch and tunes upto 180bhp rather easy but the old cast iron engine weights a ton and runs a very old air flow meter setup and ecu, its reknown for breaking down and bits are harder to come by,,,and exspensive! If people have the money the best investment would be a punto HGT 1.8 16v - 130bhp, its 10bhp down on the GT but on the road its no slower.
Plus there are some HGT turbo'd punto's out there with well in excess of 200bhp which sadly the GT cant handle very well,,,,,,,,id have a GT turbo because im used to problems with fiat and i do all the work myself with trade parts but for anybody else,,,,,,,,,,,,possible big mistake,,,plus i no who would be spending all his time looking after it for matt haha.

well at least we no one thing matt,,,,you undersatand your car needs antifreeze when temps drop below 0, and not to top up with neat water in the winter haha. But again youd no better if the water were to freeze not to try and start the engine snapping the cambelt on the frozen water pump lol,,,,,,on no i may have got that wrong

Your lucky that your engine is a clearance engine new belt, tensioner and water pump on and your on your way again unlike some of us that have interference engines
