Cadwell Park Track day 27/09/11
Thought i would post up some pics from my track day at Cadwell Park.
The day started early at 4.45am, a short drive to pick up the girlfriend and then we headed off for a 2hr drive to Cadwell, Louth, Lincolnshire.
As we arrived the sun was up and a few cars had already made it there, most being trailored in. I met a friend who used to own my 9, he'd camped over night and was already preping his car (westfield kit car)
We quickly unloaded and swapped over the wheels to my spare track set wrapped in some lovely used R888 GG tyres, next was the noise test, previously i had tested 93 and 92db so was curious as to what it would be with the different manifold on...... 87db so at 6000rpm this manifold is quieter than the Mugen 4-1.
The necessary safety briefing took place, all the same subjects were covered, but to my surprise there was quite a few novices and people that had never been to Cadwell (They was going to be in for a treat!)
Parade laps followed, then it was back to the pits for the start of the open pitlane time. This is the time when we decided to walk around and get some photos, let the numptys go out and crash early on before risking putting the 9 on track!
Cool Ford RS corner
Monster Evo
Had some big stoppers on it!
Always has to be one that doesnt listen
May look silly but it was mighty quick!
Collection of ontrack cars
Series of shots capturing a crash
Got a passenger ride in a bike engined Westfield!
The girlfriend also got a passenger ride too!
My day was cut slightly short due to a cracked brake disc, i knew there was a 10mm hairline crack the day before but at the end of the mornings running it had widened and got longer, by the time i drove the 80 mile home it was about 50mm long!! New discs purchased and will be changing pads and discs this weekend. Have also got video footage and will try to edit this and upload in the next few days.
The day was amazing, glad i paid extra money for "Summer weather" was worth it
Some seriously quick cars, got passed by:
Countless kit cars
The red EVO
Red 106 gti on full slicks and nothing in it, plus perspex windows
Lotus Exige
Race spec? BMW on full slicks
But impressed by how the EK kept up with the BMW's and bigger engine cars / turbocharged cars but i was definately a lot faster in the corners and harder and later on the brakes (god bless 4pot wilwoods!), shame the civic lacks straightline grunt because some people wont let you past, and i spent countless laps behind a Golf due to his straightline speed
All in all, cracking day (literally in the case of the disc) £95 for a full days O/pitlane and fantastic summer weather!
Roll on March 2012 for the new track season! Now time to return the car to factory spec interior!
Thanks
Ash

Re: Cadwell Park Track day 27/09/11
looks like it was a fun day, am i right that the kit car that stuffed it was the same one that cant read??
your not the first to say that 4-2-1 manifolds are quieter than mugen ones, a friend of mine found the say on his b18a teg and another friend found the same on his d16 rex but that was a japspeed 4-2-1 and stock mani lol
