MY NEW TOY :) :)
okay.....bought a new toy that should be seeing the engine bay of the Punto for Noble's
and in the future when the engine is "reinforced" it may well see the the bay of the Cinq, this is a 2lb wet Nitrous kit form Nitrous Express which has the right bits to run MPI direct port nitrous injection the jets that are in (one jet on inlet setup) is supposed to be either a 35 or a 37.5bhp jet, the tank is full and its easy to fit
here it is -
thanks
Jason

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
it will be fine, should see upto 108bhp with the NOS on, if it went on the cinq it'd make it just over 200bhp haha...hhhmm forged internals in the future i think.
My mate ran this kit on his micra turbo for a while and it worked a treat i was in the passanger seat when he flicked it on and it was like a big turbo coming on boost haha love it

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
awesome. thats some serious gear there!
Does it have a progressive controller?
IIRC davethetrike on FF ran his 60 with a 50 shot, until he built his 'charged engine.

it would be a good way to go for an easy way of instant power boost mate you can get these kits second hand for not a bad price and this kit is 15 quid to refill, if i use the MPI set-up it comes with its jetted for 50bhp which would be 120bhp on the Punto (just about the limit for the clutch with matching torque), with the right choice of jet these kits are very safe because they tend to be set-up to run quite rich for safety and as the nitrous runs out the mixture richen's up slightly more resulting in less of a boost without a bang, the throttle position switch is set for 100% at the mo meaning the gass kicks in only when you plant it (once the system is armed using a simple switch) and its easy to play around with the kit because for around 15 quid you can change the jets from 35-50-75-100 plus bhp, its a cheat but you can effectively upgrade the stock clutch and fit a 100bhp jet to the punto and bingo id have the power of the cinq N/A but its all less fun and its safer to just use smaller jets for that added boost, james used it at santa pod on the micra once he hit third gear he hit the NOS to lower his times by nearly a second!! impressive stuff!.
And its not forced to out do you though mate, it'll be a trail to make sure the jet choices are right, i have to match the jet for the fuel to the fuel pressure the car runs and ensure the Nitrous jet matches to give the right mixture or it may run to lean, but more commonly with safe jet choice it would run to rich and the power gains would be lessened, it may only give 15-20bhp if the jets are wrong but its a good way to find out with the probe up the exhaust on the rollers if it goes well then ill jet it upto 120bhp as long as the torque doesn't go over 125lb/sf then the clutch will just about be okay
Cheers
Jason

Thanks and yes it was a very pricey kit new with it being MPI direct port. It originally called it home a Suzuki GSX, some nutter ran MPI DP injection with a 50 shot on his bike!!! insane, then it was rejetted for use on my mates Micra turbo where it boosted power from 140bhp to 175bhp with loads of extra shove from the passenger seat really cool stuff.
It is a basic kit so no controller, just hit the throttle and flick the switch and bang......POWER
the 60 should handle the 35 jet thats in without an issue and it should make it very nippy, ill probably go for the 50 jet once i no the method im using for jetting size works on the rollers safely
Thanks
Jason
Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
cant wait
i will have to look into track day regs first to see if NOS is aloud before i go committing to it lol

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
chris - it doesn't last all that long, the 2lb bottle i have is good for about 3 miles on constantly @ 35bhp
update - right, been looking into the jet choice for the Punto engine, because the set-up at current is from a turbocharged engine running 3 bar fuel pressure, lowered compression and high octane fuel...non of which the punto has!
so, mine runs 1 bar fuel pressure...thats a starting point.
next i need to choose a nitrous jet for the desired power, now i have a 0.031 jet at current so ill stick with that, now with the right matching fuel jet it turns out this jet is a 43bhp jet which could bump up the power to about 114bhp if the air/fuel is as desired. To make that happen ive worked out i need a 0.021 fuel jet, but i have a 0.020 jet so it seems i have all i need to make it happen
ideally i wanted to put a slightly larger fuel jet on and use a 0.030 nitrous jet for safety as this would be a little rich... loosing maybe 5bhp but im having to make do with what i have.
thanks

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
okay, things aernt going massively well on the nitrous front!
it seems to match my 0.031 Nitrous jet i actually need a 0.022 fuel jet rather than the 0.020 which i have as there is a danger that the mixture may run to lean
That would be fine but there are no UK dealers for Nitrous Express and they will not chip abroad from the US, the only option i have if i cant find a NX dealer is to fit a 3 bar fuel pump to the punto as you would if going to high boost on a turbo conversion, i would then be able to run a pressure reg set at 45psi, this would feed the nitrous meaning i would be able to run a smaller 0.017 fuel jet. I don't have a 0.017 fuel jet but i do have a 0.018 jet which would be perfect as this would give a very slightly richer mixture with added safety there. the pressure reg leak of can then run into the O.E TB allowing the stock reg to continue supplying 1 bar to the stock injector (this is how the cinq is set-up)
so if i really want to do this then i need a 3 bar fuel pump and pressure reg now!! tut, i dont have either laying around at home
The other option is to stick the NOS on the cinq but then it would run 180bhp in low boost!!!!.......dont think mr piston and mrs con-rod would like me for that at the moment so that's out the window haha
anyone know where to get Nitrous Express Jets from in the UK???? or shipped from in the US?????

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
does the stock fuel pump not run 3bar+ before being regulated at the SPI throttle body?

no spi only run a 1bar fuel pump hence why when you do the 75mpi conversion you eed to swap the pump too

i cant have this......someone else becoming the "at home fiat parts dealer" haha, thanks alot for that mate your a top man ill let you no if this jet finding business doesn't work out plus a pressure reg might be the best thing for my small bottle because the pressure in the bottle soon drops below the 800-1000psi normal running load leading to a richer mixture and hardly any gain in power so with the correct maths i can work out what pressure the fuel needs to be at to even out the fuel mixture by lowering the fuel pressure as the bottle gets empty
Thanks guys

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
hello everyone
right...i got in contact with Nemisis UK today who sadly have stopped distributing Nitrous Express, but..... thankfully the guy had some old left over stock including jets!
and as luck would have it he had a 31, a 22 and a 28 meaning im sorted i decided to have all three seen as they are hard to come by and this way i can re-jet the NOS for lower BHP should the 43 shot be to much in some way.
all three jets were 16 quid including vat and 1st class shipping
Thanks

Re: MY NEW TOY :) :)
Could I run NOS on the megane's K7M 8v engine?
Thinking of a small amount like a 25 shot.
How long/wide/high is the tank?
Anyone know what it feels like whel the nitrous kicks in?

yes of course, NOS can be used on any engine
a 25bhp shot would be a nice reliable economical shot to use, the bottle size can your choice....it can be a small 2lb bottle to hide or tuck away somewhere like mine or a big 25lb bottle bottled down in the boot
and like i said mate ran a 35bhp shot of nitrous on his Nissan micra turbo and when he flicked the switch its instant max power with a very harsh increase in power awsome stuff and it can be very reliable to use as long as its set up correctly.
For people wanting a more serious approach to Nitrous there are kits that have ignition retarders to help prevent DET in the event of a lean mixture, bottle warmers to maintain 900-1100psi for as long as possible which makes the max power boost last longer etc etc there is a hole world of stuff for nitrous
BTW my three jets i ordered yesterday are here already!!! that means all being well the Nitrous will be on the Punto this week
Thanks
Jason
