Volvo V50 D5 !!!
Thought id share my feelings after recently driving a Volvo V50 D5 183BHP Estate the other day after doing a service on one, the V50 is a new shape Ford Focus underneath which i feel is one off the best front wheel drive car s to drive (as with most front drive fords these days) so it amazingly good. The one i drove has Volvo's own very well proven 5 cylinder 20v 2.4 litre turbo diesel with 183bhp mated to a 5 speeed auto box,,,,,,but ignore the auto bit because this car went like the clappers!! the new auto boxes are faster and better than ever and it feels quicker than the manual version on the road due to the new gearbox ECU's putting the cogs where they need to be to use the full 300 plus lb/sf of torque!!
With the traction control on first gear was incredibly rapid maintaining full traction, the once the car was on the move it felt every bit as fast as the 240bhp V70 t5 and faster than the 850 T5 with 225bhp!!, plus the D5's sound a little bit more less tractor like.
The chassis was mega impressive and the car felt solid on the road. And on top off that its a stunner off an estate car (i prefer the estate over the hatch!)
-
I have come to the conclusion that my future family car/sporst and pride and joy will be either one off these or the Equally as impressive but better looking ST-tdci mondeo.
thanks
