Mercedes 300sl Gullwing (1954-1957)

This is not a true supercar, but it is one that showed the way forward because of it's incredible technology and performance the 3 litre engine producing 240 bhp could make the sprint from 0-60 in 8.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 145 mph. Innovations in technology saw the 300 SL become the first ever production car to have fuel injection and the car featured a space frame chassis which because of the chassis running down either side of the car, meant the 300 SL had to have those now-famous gullwing doors. Furthurmore, the 300 SL also happens to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made-very much a supercar then.
