Now thats my Skyline if the lottery numbers come up. In that blue as well.

This is the best pic I ever found of one, and the one I'd like to own.

r34 gtr skyline 28bhp what a load of tosh. I bet you cannot find me one standard gtr anywhere that has 280bhp.

no they all have more at least 300bhp Very Happy
286bhp was a figure that was agreed in an informal gentlemans agreement by the big japanese producion car makers that no production car would exceed this. It was done to keep the japanese motoring body happy.
Have a look at all jdm big power cars supra, skyline, nissan fairlady, honda nsx mazda rx7 they all when released in japan create 286bhp lol.
perfect example is supra TT in japan 286bhp with 105ron petrol when they released it over here it suddenly has 320bhp on 95ron petrol with only timing altered for shitier fuel (oh and bigger brakes).
But at least it is good news for us guys for once.

Love the look of the 34 deff the best skyline, but if it was to rag round a track would certainley have the 32 as has much stronger running gear.

great cars, but high maintenance and the engines are by no means bulletproof - in fact, IMO if you want an engine that can take stick all day long around the 600bhp+ mark, they are pretty bad, even when everything possible has been done on them for reliability.

But they look and go like something else cheers

i think most people are aware off this without it being in writing though . Ive seen the RB26 make as much as 360bhp on a simple exhaust and filter arrangement.

agreed....when it comes to an engine that can take some abuse however my vote goes to the Supra twin turbo engine and the YBB RS500 cosworth engine.

how dare you matey!! lol

i am a huge huge fan off the cossy's.. 24 years on and still showing the rice rockets how to do things down at the pod and the track Surprised

YB-B engine came complete with pistons for upto 550bhp, rods for over 700, a block that will take what you can throw at it and a huge turbo good for 560bhp.....a tuners dream and a history covered with win after win after win.....one off the greatest engines off all time (ive even seen 200sx boys swapping the Sr20 for the YB in favour off more power per ££ lol) we csnt all like the dame thing though ey

but yes the JZ engine is a monster, it takes so little to get them over 400bhp without a hint off struggle monster!

temperamental, ancient, and most of them are worn out, or about to be worn out. I have personally seen 3 or 4 YB blocks that have been scrapped within a year or two, same with pistons - usually from ovalling or the fact that they have been rebored so many times that they are no longer any use.
Only 3 or 4? well i have no association with ford tuning circles, and i still see enough of these scrapped!
A lot to do with how they have been tuned, but i still read of people blowing them regularly after a fresh build - Nick Hedley and his YB powered car and van spring to mind - several blown engines built by top ford specialists.

You could say that about a lot of engines from the same era, its true, but the final straw for me is that they have no soul at all. I have never heard one sound good - they all sound flat, boring, and droney. Even mitsu evo engines are fruitier. Mostly due to the design of inlets and exhaust manifolds, but thats just the way they are...

The one thing i will say for Cosworth though, is that they developed the C20LET which is a great sounding engine! And still very tunable.

Sorry for the rant, feel free to moderate my ass lol

lol dont worry about it mate i like the opinions and alot off it is true......we are talking about a 25 year old lump that is doing more than well for its age, i respect it for what it was back in 1986 and that was a strong hugely tunable rally and race inspired engine that went on to prove itself in motorsports very well.
Yes they had issues, early YB-D engines suffered piston slap and head gasket issues, issues with missfires but the later engines where well sorted and can we made very reliable by some off the top tuners. (Im a big ford fan lol.......there not the best but boy i love what they have done and what they still today)
The YB was and still is one off the most respected and best engines ever to see the road, the track and the gravel Very Happy Very Happy

and yes i agree with you about the the redtop, in my eyes its virtually the best tunable N/A engine available.

thanks
