Hello
Hello people
I saw this website on the back of a volvo so though i would take a look and its just the type of forum i am looking for,for needing advice on my car.
i am driving a fiat seicento sporting abarth.but i dont have a clue what size engine it is,i think its a 1.1 and dont have a clue of the out put but i love the little car, would love to see what i could do to the car to make it faster and does any one on were i can get spacers from for it because my 195/50/r15 are to wide for the archers.
thankyou
matt

Re: Hello
hello and welcome to the forum, thanks for signing up
I a fellow Fiat owner i own a rather special home built Cinqucento turbo
the sky is the limit for playing with your little fiat but its how far you want to go, how much time you want to spend on it, how money etc etc, your will currently be an 1108cc 54bhp engine either in SPI or MPI form. One of the favoured way of cheaply boosting power and tuning potential is to fit the 1242cc bottom end from either the Punto 60 or 75 etc, its a straight swap.
BTW where did you see me in the Volvo???
thanks
Jason

Yes you can if yours is the SPI engine (same as fitted to the Punto 55 and Cinq sporting) then you can drop your engine and fit a Punto 60 engine as a direct straight swap (you wo9uldnt even think they were any different to look at), you can pick a good 60 engine up for around 80-150 quid and they are a nice torqy engine that you can play around with. They respond well to subtle mods such as fitting the 866 camshaft from the Punto 75 and 40mm throttle body. you can see a nice 75bhp without to much fuss on a 60 engine.
There is always the turbo route, a low boost can be built for around 1k with new bits or alot cheaper with second hand bits, a low blow 1242 can see a healthy 100bhp/100lb/sf, mine never missed a beat as a low boost and it had enough power to have some fun etc......can be a nit thirsty though!
If its turboing you fancy then ill be some what a big help!, ive been through them all...1242 low boost....1242high boost......1242 high boost and then some......1242 big turbo custom setup (current) etc etc all good fun
other option is to fit the 1242 16v engine from the Punto sporting by changing the loom and ECU etc for that of a donor Punto....... a nice 80-85bhp on tap as stock.
And as for your question.....fitting the 1242 is a simply easy to do mod but it would be wise to have some mechanical knowledge and to have worked on cars before to save damaging anything or making silly and costly mistakes....if not get someone to help you.
thanks
Jason

Re: Hello
no problem
Sorry, yes you will need spacers. I do have some spacers (they not the best but they do the job) if you want them of me, PM me if you do.
The 1242 60 engine is identical externally to the 1108 so it fits your gearbox and everything else and as long as yours is SPI then your stock ecu and loom will simply plug and go as normal without any issues
thanks
