Re: Brakes
yes, but its better and easier to fit punto GT turbo brakes, they are very easy to fit!, they are 256mm vented discs and larger calipers and will do the job fantastically.
you can find the discs, pads, calliper and pad carrier on the Punto GT, the fiat bravo and merea 1.8 and a few other Fiats

Re: Brakes
Jason have you ever thought of getting a bigger engine in the cinq e.g. the 1.4 or i saw some nutters online with 2.0 litres in them?

yes and no mate, i like the 1242 engine and i have reached a power that is just about as much as the Cinq can take with little effort on this setup, with the right internals and the boost turned up id be seeing 200 plus bhp which is silly so im happy to stay were i am leaving me with no need for a bigger heavier engine , the only advantage from here with a bigger engine such as the 1400 bottom end from the new range of Fiats (8 valve or 16) would probably be the fact that they will be stronger. so you see for that reason alone id rather put some forged internals in mine and stick with the wow factor that its still a 1.2 8 valve engine
Plus the issue with bigger engines (as proved in a uno turbo powered sie) is that it totally kills handling, they tend to under-steer to much as it is so any extra weigh is best avoided if you like a good all-round package rather than a quarter mile king
Thanks
Jason
Re: Brakes
200 plus bhp bloody hell thats immense espically out of a 1.2. I suppose your are right about the engines to much power for such a small car there will be no point. It would make a pretty mean quiarter mile car!

Yes it is haha, its mainly down to a large well chosen turbo, and it would need a serious list of extras to even think about running it at those kind of power levels anyway, i used to snap drive shafts and engine mounts running 120bhp on a small turbo due to the violent torque spike from smaller turbos, now i run the larger one its more progressive and less snappy but no the issue is to much power for the car when it comes to grip and handling haha.
It does okay on the quarter mind you, i timed it on the road using a greddy full auto timer and an android handset and it got a best of 13.67 @ 105mph on 195 road tyres etc
Thanks
Jason
Re: Brakes
jay is right with the power, i had an uno turbo a few year back with a dyno'd 220bhp and then the turbo was hybrided and the boost upped from .9bar to 1.0bar and they reconded it was around 240bhp and it was leathel on boost and that was an uno which is slightly heavier, there was a lad on FF that put a vaux redtop in a sei but it lasted about 21miles before the new owner ploughed it into someone and wrote it off, the biggest engine i'd say would be a 1.4 16v but even they struggle with handling abit, the 1242 are the best performance/handling swap imho
